Welcome to the PREDEMICS portal

The PREDEMICS project has received funding from the European Community's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007-2013) under grant agreement n° 278433

The program

PREDEMICS aims at providing Preparedness, Prediction and Prevention of Emerging Zoonotic Viruses with Pandemic Potential using Multidisciplinary Approaches.

The following zoonotic viruses with epidemic potential in Europe will be studied:

  • Influenza virus,
  • Hepatitis E virus
  • Japanese encephalitis virus and related flaviviruses
  • Lyssaviruses

The Predemics consortium members have decided to dedicate the training programme of the project to the memory of Isabel Minguez Tudela, who sadly passed away in April 2011, aged 54.

Isabel was a senior scientific officer at DG Research and Innovation at the European Commission and throughout the years has supported research with a “One Health” vision, with special attention to training young scientists operating with an interdisciplinary approach.
We wish to continue and consolidate what she started, towards a new generation of EU scientists on emerging, transboundary and neglected diseases.
