Paola De Benedictis

Bio:Paola De Benedictis, is currently Head of the FAO Reference Centre for rabies at IZSVe, which is part the OIE Collaborating Centre for Diseases at the Human/Animal Interface. From 2006, she participates in several international tasks for the support and the development of African laboratories for the diagnosis of viral diseases with zoonotic potential, such as rabies. She is involved in research on rabies, namely the evolution and dynamics of rabies, the application of novel diagnostic assays for rabies diagnosis, and the development of human monoclonal antibodies for post-exposure prophylaxis. From 2007 to date she is author and co-author of over 40 publications, particularly focusing on tropical aspect of viral zoonoses, such as rabies and avian influenza, including papers published in international refereed journals, papers and abstracts published in the proceedings of conferences, and chapters of books.
