 | Bio: | Nicole Pavio obtained her PhD in Microbiology in 1996 at the University Paris 7 Denis Diderot. Her thesis entitled: Persistent infections of Poliovirus in vitro was performed at the Pasteur Institute of Paris, under the supervision of the Dr. F. Colbère-Garapin. Then, from 1996 to 1998 she continued her work at the Pasteur Institute, on the role of polivirus receptor in viral persistence.
From 1998 to 2002, she had a fellowship from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and did a Post-doc at University of Southern California, Los Angeles, USA, with the Pr. Michael Lai. Her work was on the impact of the envelop protein E2 of Hepatitis C virus on innate immunity.
Then back to France she joined the French National Institute of Health (INSERM), Paris, France from 2002 to 2005 as an Assistant professor in Pr. C. Bréchot’s Laboratory. She was the head of the Hepatitis C virus team. Her interest was on the impact of natural capsid mutant of hepatitis C virus in carcinogenesis.
In 2005 she obtained a full time Principal Investigator position at the Animal health laboratory of ANSES in Maisons-Alfort. France. Working in Dr. S. Zientara's UMR virology, she is the Head of the “Enteric virus and species barrier” Team. Her interest focuses on Animal reservoir and zoonotic transmission of hepatitis E virus.
